Tailgate Wrap for Paul’s Auto Repair
Innovative Signs designs and installs a tailgate wrap for Paul’s Auto Repair
There are many ways to use a vehicle to advertise your business. A tailgate wrap would be one of those. A tailgate wrap is usually more expensive than cut vinyl lettering but costs much less than a full vehicle wrap. The benefits of a tailgate wrap would be that you can have full color graphics and even pictures in the design. Which is something that using only cut vinyl wouldn’t be able to do. The location is also great because everyone behind you will have full view of your advertising. If you are interested in getting a tailgate or vehicle wrap done in Tucson stop by our shop.
Design process
This tailgate wrap was designed in Illustrator. Pictures of the vehicle were scaled in this program and then the text and logos added onto it to simulate the finished product. We send several versions of the design to the customer and based on their feedback make additional changes to it. When the design is approved, we add the necessary bleeds and conduct some test prints. This is to make sure the print quality is correct and there won’t be any errors in the printed graphics.
Installing
When the truck arrived we cleaned the tailgate and sides to allow a clean surface for the graphics to stick to. The tailgate was brought inside our office to do the install. We also had to install some yellow cut vinyl on the black areas of the side of the truck. We used our printed proofs of the final design as a guide to installing. We aligned the printed graphics onto the tailgate and peeled away the backing paper. With squeegees we pushed down the vinyl onto the metal surface and repeated the process until all of the tailgate was covered. As for the yellow cut vinyl on the sides, it was a quick and easy step. Align the graphics in the correct area and stick it on.
