Breezeways Van Wrap Oct 2013
Vinyl removal and install of a van for Breezeways
Innovative Signs of Tucson did another vehicle for Breezeways Air Conditioning and Heating. This was a large job because there was a lot of work involved in completing this wrap. The van was dropped off to us in its old vehicle wrap form and we had to remove all the vinyl from it. We have done several other vehicles for Breezeways Air Conditioning and Heating so thank you for your continuing business. Vehicle wraps are a great way to get noticed on the road. With a vehicle wrap you potentially have more people who will see your moving advertisement. With a tv commercial someone can change the channel or mute it. With a vehicle wrap there is no way to avoid seeing the wrapped vehicle. It even draws you to look at it when it is in a sea of cars because a good vehicle wrap will stand out and get noticed.
Vinyl removal
We had to remove all the vinyl from the van. Something like a fully wrapped van can take an entire day or two depending on how many people are helping out. We use plastic scrapers and a blow torch to remove the vinyl. When the vinyl is removed we need to wash it to remove the leftover dirt and adhesive remaining on the vehicle.
Now we have a van with all the vinyl and leftover adhesive gone. This is what the van looked like when we were finished with the clean up. Note the patches of where there is no paint Depending on the wrap’s condition, there may be some paint lifting during the vinyl removal process. The vinyl has “baked” into the paint so well when you scrape it off sometimes paint will lift with it. Mostly on the hood because the paint and vinyl are being heated by the engine from below. The sun is also heating the hood from above.
With all the paint chipped areas, the customer opted to repaint the vehicle white before we started the wrap. This is beneficial because paint chipped areas can be visible through wraps. It also helps with bonding the vinyl to a clean surface.
Installing
We do a quick wipe down of the vehicle’s surface. This is to have a clean surface for the vinyl to stick to. On the edges of the van and under the wheel wells we apply primer. This is to help keep the vinyl in place on at risk areas of the vehicle.
Now here are the completed pictures.
