Install of vinyl on the hood of a car

This was an install project for a customer who brought in their Ford Mustang that had paint wear on the hood. We were able to install high performance black vinyl to cover the paint wear. This is a great example of using vinyl material to customize a vehicle other than using vinyl for lettering and advertisement. You can see from the before picture that the paint was wearing off and the base blue was showing through.

What you see as black on the hood is going to be replaced with black vinyl. The hood graphics would be trimmed to fit in the area of the black.

Installation of hood graphics

We first cleaned the hood of the vehicle to remove any dirt and dust that could cause the vinyl to lift later on. We used a wider length of black vinyl than what we normally use for our vinyl lettering and graphics for vehicles and signs. We started at one end of the hood and worked our way down until it was covered. The hood graphics were trimmed and then cleaned to get rid of finger prints.

Here is the finished hood graphics install. Although we are a sign shop and not an auto detail shop, we are still able to do custom decals, vinyl installs and printed graphics for vehicles. Check out our post for Wood Grain Graphics install for another vehicle.
